Every other  Retro Music  fan in Bollywood, I am  sure  will be  fan of  Kishore Kumar. While  he  is  famous  for  his wide  variety of  Songs , his  Yodelling , His  unique style of  Singing, there has been many songs  of his which  were  a  treat  to the  ears, but  for  many unknown  reasons  never became popular  as  much  it should have  been.  This  Countdown  tries  to capture  such  songs  and  list  the TOP 20  SONGS  which can fall  into  this  category,  time  period  I have Choosen is  from 1950s to 1980s , time which  he was  most active  as  a  Singer . Let us  start  the  Count down.

1) The  First  song is  a  very  Chirpy  and  Naughty song ,Kamata  Hai  Bahut  Kuch,  from  film  ADHIKARR , starred  Kishore  himself  and  Usha  Kiron. This  had  Music  by  Avinash Vyas, not much   known Composer and Lyrics  by  Prem Dhawan. The song is  so relevant  even know, since  it talks  of earning more , but it gets  spent due  to  high living costs and  Cant  save Much. This is  a Duet  of  Kishore  and  Geeta Dutt, which  itself  is  a  rare  one.

2)Chota  Sa  Ghar  Hoga,  a  Beautiful   Duet  with Usha Mangeshkar ,  from the film NAUKRI. This  was one of earlier  films of Kishore  as  actor (Sheila  Ramani was  heroine  who Acted  with Dev Anand in films like  Taxi Driver, Funtoosh etc). This was  directed by Bimal Roy .  Kishore was  not popular  as  a singer and  that time, and  Composers Salil Chaudary were reluctant initially to use  him as  play back , Director  Bimal  Roy  had  to force  them. This  film finally had  some  very good songs  this being the  stand out one.  Lyrics  were by  Shailendra.

3)Next  is  Pyar Baatne   Chalo, this  is  from film HUM SAB USTAAD  HAI, another  film starring Kishore , wrestler /actor  Dara  Singh  and  Ameeta (  more famous  as  heroine  in Shammi Kapoor  starrer  Tumsa  Nahin Dekha). This  was  one of  early  Movies  of  Lakshmikant Pyarelal as  Music composers( just  after they made  a  grand  entry  with Music of  Parasmani ). The  Lyrics  is written by Asad  Bhopali  and  one  more  song of this  film  was  very famous, Ajanabee  Tum Jane  Pehchan  Lagte  Ho  .

4)Panthi Ho  Main Jish Pank Ka ,  from the film DOOR KI RAHI, This  was  directed by  Kishore Kumar and  starred  himself,  Tanuja  and  his  big Brother  Dada Moni, even tough  it was released  in early 1970s, this was  a  small budget  film, hence  made  in Black and  White.  This  Kishore  solo I am putting is  little unheard  ( but this  was  one of  Kishore's favorite  song) but there is  another popular duet  of  Kishore and  Sulkashana Pandit in this  film, Bekaraar  Yeh  Dil Gayeega,.( Please  wait for  song  to start  after  about  90 secs in the  video. )

5) Mere Jeevan Kuch Kaam  Nahin Aaya,  from  the  film MERA JEEVAN, a Pathos Song , this film had music  by Sapan Jagmohan, ( They  were  a  Composer  duo, not much famous,  mostly  composed to B Grade films, but critics  says  their  music  resembles  RDB compositions many times), songs  written  by MG Hasmath  . This  film  had  Vidhya Sinha and  Dushyant ( not heard of him ) in the  lead. In  Song you see  Vidya  and  Character  Actor  Satyen Kapu ( remember  him, Ramu  Kaaka  in SHOLAY , assistant  to Thakur , Sanjeev Kumar)

6)Jo  Raah Chuni Tune,  from film, TAPASYA a Rajashri  Film , Music  by  Ravindra  Jain,  and lyrics  by MG Hasmat ,  Rakhee  and  Parikshit Sahani, were the  lead  pair , This  film  was a National  Award winner  for  Wholesome  Entertainment. Point  worth noting , Ravindra   Jain used  little  known female  singers,  Aarti Mukerjee , Chandrani Mukerjee, Hemalatha  in this  film as  female voices.A Kishore,Aarti, Do Panchi  Do  Tinke  was  more  popular  song from  this  film.

7)Teri Duniya  Se main Bahut  Door  Chala from  film  PAVITRA PAAPI is a rare  film in which both father and  son duo  of  Balraj and Parikshit  Sahani  played along with  Tanuja.  This  sad or  pathos  song was  quiet  popular  in radios  those  days, has  music and  song written and composed  both by  Prem  Dhawan . It is said  that  this  when  Kishore  Died, this  was  one of  songs  which was played  by most  number  of  Radio  Stations  , as  a  farewell  tribute  to him.

8)Sabse Nirala, Rangeela  Dil  Wala  , from 1977  Spy  Thriller  AGENT VINOD, which  was  a  surprise  hit  that year.  This  starred  Mahendra  Sandhu, Rehana  Sultana, Asha  Sachdeva etc, music  was  by  Raam Lakshman ( one of  their  earlier  films)..

9)Maine  Kuch Koya  Hai  Maine  Kuch Paaya  hai,   Another  beautiful gem  from  the  combination  of  composers  Lakshmi  Pyare  and  Kishore  from  the 1975 film MERE SAJANA , this  film starred, Rakhee,  the  handsome  hero Navin  Nischol  and  Helen. The  words of song  were written by  the great  Majrooh  Sultan Puri ( he  had  worked  with LP  in very few  films )

10)Yadoon Mein ho  Sapno Mein Ho,   from   Basu  Chaterjee's SWAMI , had  Shabana Azmi, Girish Karnad, Deeraj Kumar, Vikram  in the  lead. Music  was  by Rajesh Roshan,  who had  just  become  popular  at  that  time  after  giving Super  Hit  music  for  Fil, Julie. Lyrics  were  by  Amit  Khanna.The most  famous  song of  this  film was  of course  Yesudas  Song,Kya Karoo  Sajani  and  Lata  one, Pal Bar  Yeh kya ho  Gaya. This  film  music  got  Rajesh Roshan  a Film Fare  Award  Nomintaion  also. Not many  know  that  this film was  produced  by Hema Malini's Mother  Jaya Chakravarthy  and  hence  Hema  and Dharam  had  guest Starring  in this  film.

11)Kitne  Raanjhe  Dekh Ke,  from film AHASAAS, Bappi Lahiri  Scored the  music , a very  unknown  film, which  Introduced a  young lead  pair, Parvez  and  Dina ( seen in the  song) , film also  had  seasoned  actors  like  Shammi, Shashi Kapoor, Bindu , Amjad  Khan.  But  this  solo  song is  beautiful  and  I am  sure  Radio  listeners of those  times  will remember  this  song very well.

12)Haath Churake  Mere  Haathon  Se,  from GUMRAH,  A very  Rare  song, so much, could not get  the  Video  of  this  Song,  But  beautiful Yodelling by Kishore , and  if you listen  this song few  times, it makes  you  feel /think of  Yeh  Shyaam  Mastani ( Kati Patang ), Music by  Usha  Khanna the ( only female  composer  in Bollywood)  ,written by Asad Bhopali ,  this  film had  Reena  Roy, Danny and  you wont  believe  Subhash  Ghai ( this song is  supposed  to be picturised  on him ) , yes  who later  became  one of  Greatest  Show Man  in Bollywood films.

13)Hum Tum Hai  Saathi, from   film HAMARE TUMHARE ,  a RD Burman Composed  song, a  very rare  song,  again a solo, this  film had  Rakhee, Sanjeev Kumar, Prem Kishen ( son of Prem Nath)etc. All  the songs  of  this  film  were  Sung by  Kishore including the duets , during  the time  when RDB  was  at his  peak, but  some  how none became  popular  or  caught  attention of  listeners. 

14)Yeh Bandhan Kacche  Daagon Ka,  From  the Film Bandhan Kacche  Daagon Ka, this  Tittle  song, has  three versions, a  Solo by Kishore, a solo  by Lataji and  Duet by both of them. Music is by   Hemant Bhosle, son of  Legendary  Singer  Asha  Bhosle (from her  first  Marriage) . this  Anil Sharma directed  family drama  had  Shashi Kapoor, Rakhee  and  Zeenat  in the  lead.

15)Meri  Jaan Meri Jaan kehna Maano,  from  the  film DO CHOR,  This  Raj  Khosla  directed  film , had  Dharmendra  and  Tanuja  in lead  and  also  had  her  mother Shobana Samarth. Music byRD Burman and lyrics  by  Majrooh, this  song feauters  the  lead  pair.  Another  Kishore and  Lata  Duet  from this  film was very famous,  Chaye  Rahe  Door  Chaye  Rahe  Paas.

16)Main  Akeka  Apne  Dhun Mein, from Basu  Chaterjee's  MAN PASAND, This  film  starred  Dev Anand and Tina  Munim ( their  second film together after  Des  Pardes)  and  had Girsh Karnad and Simple  Kapadia  in supporting  cast. Music by  Rajesh Roshan and  Lyrics  by Amit  Khanna, this film was  based  on Hollywood Block  Buster  My  Fair  Lady  and  some  of  songs  were  adopted  from the  film  into Hindi  version also.

17)Gham Ki  Rahon  Mein, from  the  very unknown film  JEENA  HAI PYAR  MEIN, had  Suresh Oberoi, Shoma Anand  in lead.  This  beautiful Kishore  solo is  so pleasing to hear, music was  by , Basu -Manhori, a  musical  duo. Manohari  Singh  one half  of  this  duo, as  many might know was a long time  associate  of Pancham  and  was  playing the  Saxophone  in his  Orchestra.Lyrics is  written by Naqsh Lalpuri.

18)Kaun Sunega Kisko  Suna Do,  from the film, SOUTEN KI BETI , starred  Jeetendra, Jaya Pradha  and  Rekha, this  movie  was  directed  by Sawan Kumar   and  he wrote  the  songs. Music  was  by Ved Pal ( not much know  about him).  Point to note, most of  Sawan Kumar  movies , music was by his  wife  Usha  Khanna only, this  film was an exception.  This  film had a  more  famous  Kishore  Anuradha Paudwal  duet, Yeh Jo Halka  Halka  . 19)Tanha Mein Akela,  from  film SACCHE  KA BOL BALA, This  Dev  Anand  directed  film starred  himself  and Jackie  Shroff, Meenkashi  and  Hema  Malini in Guest  role. Music  by Bappi Lahiri, this  beautiful Kishore solo,  was  picturisied  on Jackie.

20)Aate  Hai  Chale  Jaat  Hai  a  wonderful  Kishore  Solo  from  film  YAADGAR a  unknown film , starring  Kamal  Hasan  and  Poonam  Dhillon  and  directed  by  Telegu Director  Dasari Narayan Rao.This  film also  had  Sanjeev Kumar, Tanuja  and  South  Actress  Jamuna.  In this  film Bappi  used  the  voice  of  Runa  Laila , the  Bangladeshi  singer  for  another  song.
