Nee Hyange Nodabeda Nanna: Kannada film songs , Originally written by Famous Poets

                    TOP  12  OLD KANNADA  SONGS,  BASED  ON POEMS  BY  FAMOUS POETS 

We  have  always  seen  from long time,  Kannada film makers and  Composers incorporating the very meaningful  Poems  written by  our  golden and famous  Kannada  poets and using them  in  interesting  situations  in the  films, .While  we  all know the very  Popular  songs  of  Ku Vem Pu ( Donee  Saagali, Naane  Veene  Neene Tanthi, Teradide Baa  Atithi )  , Da Ra Bendre ( Moodala Maneya, Uga  Ugadi Kaledaru, Nee  Hyaange Noda Beda , Uttara Dhruvadin ) and  GS Shiva Rudrappa ( Vedanti Helidanu, Haadu Haleyadarenu) , in  this  episode, I  will  look  at  few other beautiful Poems converted  into  Film  Songs , most of  it heard , I am  sure, but  you might  not know  these  were written by  our  gifted  poets, and  some  Info  around  these songs, so let us  start  the  count down now 

1)First one  is  from film,  ARASINA KUMKUMA,This  film directed by KSL Swamy ( Ravi), had  Kalyan  Kumar , Rajesh, Kalpana,  and music  by  Vijay  Bhaskar. There is a  wonderful poem of Da Ra Bendre, used  in this  film,  Illidu Baa Thayi Illidu  Baa, the beauty  of  song, a  rare chance  you see the great  Singer  PB Srinivas as himself  on the  screen, in his  trade mark Fur  Cap ( which in later years got replaced by the  traditional  Mysore Peta) .

2)Next is  from film SARVAMANGALA, a Rajkumar , Kalpana  film directed by Chaduranga, this   had musical score by Sathyam, had  a meaningful  poem of  Great Poet , KS Narasimha Simha Swamy ( KSN) , Nannavalu Nannadeya  , sung by  PB Srinivas  and  P Susheela.  This  film,  other  than this  song, had  lot of  Janapada songs  also  used.

3)   Next  is  from the  film GOWRI  Song  is Yaava  Janumda Maitri  , This  film had  RajKumar, Sowkar Janaki  in lead, but  this  song is  picturised  on Sandhya  and  considered  one of best  Songs  ever  in voice of  S  Janaki,  composed  by  GK Venkatesh  and  of  course  this  is  a  poem  written by our  Rashtra Kavi  Ku Vem Pu

4)Next  Songs  is  from  the  film, THUMBIDA KODA, This  film had Rajkumar, LeelaVathi, Jayanthi, Narasimha Raju,  But  the  song I have  choosen is  very unique, Rare  time  you see  the  Legendary Singer, P Kalinga  Rao  on screen  singing  the  song , Anthinta  Hennu Ninalla , Composed  by GK Venkatesh, this  is a  poem by  great  poet,  KS  Narasimha  Swamy  . Other  than Kalinga  Rao, you  can  other  great people  like, Author  Aa  Na  Kru  and  Doctor  and  Social leader Dr  Parthsarathy in this  song .

5)The  next  film  is  KAKANA KOTE , a Drama of Masti Venkatesh  Iyer  adopted  to  a  film  by CR  Simha, had  Lokesh, Srinath, Girija  etc. Music  was  by C Ashwath  and  all  the  songs  adopted  in this  film  was  written by  Great Poet, Masti Venkatesh  Iyengar   and what  I  have  selected  is  the  song  sung by C Ashwath  Himself,  Bettada  Tudiyalli  . Of course  the  other  song  in the  film  sung by  Sulochana was equally or more  famous,  Nee  Saara  Nodu .

6) and  7) , Next  Film is  SPANDANA ,  a  very  less  known film , with  unknown actors, but two beautiful  songs  composed  by C Ashwath  again, both  wonderful poems  of  Poet, N Lakshmi Narayan Bhat. First one  by P Susheela, Bande Baruthaava  Kaala, and  second  one sung by SP Balasubrmanyiam ,  Yentha  Marullaiyaa  Idu  Yentha  Maralu.

8)  Next   film  is  MARALI GUDIGE ,a film which  had  Kalyan Kumar, Jai  Jagadeesh, Roopa Devi This  Film  had  a  very  nice  song  adopted  from  Poem by  Prof Nishar Ahmed,  Nee Nudiyadiralenu, Sung  so wonderfully by  SPB  and  composed  by  Rajan  Nagendra. this  song is  picturised  on Srinivas  Murthy on screen. This  song  was  made  popular  by  Mysore Anant Swamy in the  voice of  Ratna Mala Prakash.

9)Next  Film  is  KAMANA BILLU,  this  is only film, Raja Kumar  and  Anant Nag  acted  together , along with  Sarita. Based  on a  novel by  Ashwini,  this  film had  Music  by  Upendra  Kumar .  This  has  a  beautiful  poem  of  Ku  Vem Pu  again, adopted  into a  song,  Sung by  CAshwath,  Negilu Hidida  Ulliva Yogiya  Nodalli.

10)The  film is  HANTAKANA SANCHU, A  suspense  thriller, which had  Vishnu Vardhana, Aarti and  Jayamala,  The music  is by Vijay  Bhaskar ,  and  again one  more  Ku Vem Pu  Song was  adopted , Jeevana  Sanjeevana ,  sung  by  Jayachandran  and  Vani  Jayaram,  the  picturisation of  this  song is  also very  nicely   done.

11)One  Director  who  used  the  Poems  of  Great Poets  , very  extensively  is  the great  Film Maker, Puttana  Kanagal,  so last two  songs are  dedicated  to  him.  From the  film  Dharani Mandala Madhyadolige ,  this  beautiful   Song/ poem  of  Dalita  Kavi Siddalingiah,  sung by  SPB, composed   by Vijaya  Bhaskar  and  picturised  on   Srinath /Padma Vasanthi and other pairs,  Gelathi  O Gelathi. This song won the best  Lyricist  State  award  for  the  Poet  and  for  the Composer  for  the film.

12)The  last  one, again  from  Puttana's  last  film,  MASANADA HOOVU based on novel of  same  name  of  Ta  Ra  Su, starring  Jayanti, Ambarish  and  Aparna.  Music  was  by  Vijay  Bhaskar,  and  this  song by  SPB, Yaava  Kanike  Needali  Ninage  , is  adopted from the  poem  written by  SR EKKUNDI, a  Sahitya  Academy  Award  winning  poet.
