The Monsoon  Season is  back, it has been one of  most favorite  aspect of all  film makers in Bollywood right from the beginning , to  Shoot  a  Song in the  Rains. It can be  to fit the  situation, sometimes  for  diversion from tense  screen play or many a  times  just to add  the extra glamour , with drenched  hero and heroine dancing  in the  rains  to some  rollicking  song and  music, has always  caught the attention of  the audience. Todays  countdown is  to capture  some of  these top songs , I have  included only those Songs  which are actually shot  in the  rains and  not which have the words, like  Baarish or  Sawaan or  Badal etc in the  songs and  I have limited  the time  period between 1950s  to  1970s ,  so  it is  Pure VINTAGE !! 

1)Pyar Hua, Ikraar Hua  , from   SHREE 420 , one  of  the  oldest  and  first popular  song ,shot in the rain, iconic  pair of  Raj Kapoor and Nargis  singing , walking on the  drenched  roads  in the rains,with Umbrellas  in hand , how can we  forget  this Romantic  duet  by Manna Dey and Lataji, written by Shailendra and  composed by Shankar Jaikishan.Dont  forget  to see the  three little  kids  walking  in end of  song, no marks  for guessing, who  they  were!!

2)Ek Ladkhi Beeghi Baghi Se, from  CHALTI KA NAAM GAADI, One  more  Song  you can never  forget, Kishore  Kumar  singing for  himself  trying  to Win Over  Madhubala, his antics, stunning looks of  MadhuBala, wonderful  music  by  SD Burman, Lyrics  by Majrooh. Not  Many know  this  is  one of first  films Pancham  assisted  his  father, as  a  budding composer .

3)Dum  Dum  Digha  Digha , from CHALIA, Another  Raj Kapoor  film,( Nutan was leading lady)  dancing in glory in the  rains, sung by  Mukesh , this is  is  one first  Hits  of  Composer  duo  Kalyanji Anandji  and written by Qamal Jalalabadi , point  to  note , this film was  debut for  director Manmohan Desai, who later  went on to become one of  most  succesful directors  in Bollywood.

4)Rim Jhim Tarana  Lekhe,  From  KAALA BAZAAR , This  is a  Navaketan film Directed  by Vijay Anand, this  beautiful  song is  picturisied  on lead  pair, Dev Anand and  Waheeda, sung by Mohd Rafi and  Geeta  Dutt, written by  Shailendra,  and  composed  by  Senior  Burman. A  small  Trivia , only film where the  ANAND brothers acted  together, Chetan, Vijay, Dev.

5)Dil Tere  Deewana  Hai   Sanam,   From  DIL TERA DEEWANA,  Tittle  song, picturised  on lead pair Shammi Kapoor and  Mala Sinha, This  film is directed  by South Indian films  great  film maker, BR Panthulu , and  song is  sung by Mohd Rafi  and  Lata, Composed by  Shankar Jaikishan, and written by Shailendra. Intersesting  fact, this  film was in B&W even though  colour  films  had  started by that  time.

6)Aaha Rimjhim Ke Yeh Pyaare Pyaare Geet Liye  from USNE KAHA THA,  this  film is not  too famous ( produced by Bimal Roy) , but  this  song is  a  real  Melody, sung  by  Talat Mehmood and  Lata  Mangeskar  ,with  Sunil Dutt  and  Nanda in lead.  Music is  By   Salil Chaudray   and  lyrics by  Shailendra.

7)O Sajna, Barka Baahar  Ayee,  from  film PARAKH, Proabably  one  of  best  compositions  from  Composer Salil Chaudray ( a favourite  of  Director  Bimal Roy)  and  one of  best  by  Lataji also. Song is  written by  Shailendra.  This  was  one of  less  glamorous  roles  of  Sadhana  and  was  well appreciated  for  her  role. When we talk of  Monsoon  songs, never can we miss  this melody.

8)Rim Jhim Ke  Geet Sawaan Gaye  from ANJAANA, a  Mohan Kumar  film,  starring  Rajendra Kumar  and  Babita, one of  last films  of   the Jubilee  Star  as  hero. This song  is  again one of  early hits  of  pair of  Lakshmikant Pyarelal  and  Writer Anand Bakshi   , sung by  Mohd  Rafi  and  Lataji.

9)Chup Gaye  Nazare ,  from  DO  RAASTE,  Another  beautiful song from the  Combo  of  LP and  Anand Bakshi,  sung  again by  Mohd Rafi and  Lataji, This  is a  Raj Khosla  film, and  was  one of  the films, of Hit  Pair  of  Rajesh Khanna  and  Mumatz  at the peak of  their  popularity.

10)Barka Rani Zara Jamke  Barso ,  From  SABAK, lesser  Known film, But a  beautiful song  by Mukesh  and  composed  by  Usha  Khanna, one of  rare  female  composers in bollywood, written By Sawan Kumar ( he was  her  Husband)   This  film starred  Shatragun Sinha, Jayashree T  and  also  Shatru's future  wife  Poonam

11)Tum Jo Mil Gaye, Who Yeh Lagta Hai  from   HANSTE  ZAKHM, one  of  the  Beauty  from  Madan Mohan, one of his  best  compositions in voice  of  Mohd   Rafi, picturisied  in the car in back drop of rains  , starring  smart Naveen Nishcol  and  Priya Rajvansh, the  lyrics of  Kaifi Azmi , adds  more  sweetness to the song.  This  was  a Chetan Anand  film.( Priya  was  his  wife)

12)Haye  Re Haye  Neend  Nahin Hai,   HUM JOLI, even today  perhaps  one of  most  repeated songs on TV in retro songs  category, this has  some  Real  crazy dancing from  Jumping Jack Jeetendra and Leena Chandravarkar , in the  rains. A  Mohd  Rafi and  Lata  Duet  again, music is  composed by Lakshmi Pyare  and  song is  written by Anand Bakshi.

13)Hay  Hay Yeh  Majboori , From  Roti  Kapada Aur Makaan, This  Manoj Kumar  film, was a Multi starrer , with himself, Shashi, Big B, Zeenat, Mousahmi , this  Rain song  sung by  Lataji, is picturised on Zeenat  and  Manoj and It is  Composed by Lakshmi Pyare  and  written by Santosh Anand. Point to note, there were popular  rain songs in other Manoj films,  Paani Re  Panni  Tera Rang Jaise  in Shor  and  Zindagi Na Toothe  lagi  from Kranti.

14)Bheegi Bheegi Raaton  Mein,  from  AJANABEE,  My  VOTE  for  the  best  Rain Song ever in Bollywood  goes  to this  One, for  its  wonderful Tune by Pancham  , Zeenat  looks  real  Sensual  as  ever  with Charming Hero  Rajesh Khanna,  Excellent singing by Kishore and Lataji, so in totality  a  complete  block buster  song . Lyrics  was  written by  Anand Bakshi   and  this  was  a  Shakti Samantha  film with  his  Favorite  hero.

15)RimJhim Ghire  Saawan  , from  MANZIL,  the  last is  reserved  for  perhaps  the most  popular or  people  Choice  as  best  Sawaan song , again from Pancham, starring  Amitabbh and  Sweet Moushami Chaterjee . This  song is  their  in voice of  Both Lata  and   Kishore . The  story goes  that, it was  originally  the Lata  version ( in this  only the  song is  shot in the  rains) , was  there, but Kishoreda  after  hearing the song, insisted  Pancham  to  record  in his voice also  and irony is , Kishore  version got more popular  , and even today  is  a  rage. The  song was  written by Yogesh , who passed  away recently .This  is a  Basu Chaterjee film and  one of  his rare failures  also. 
This  song  will also make  you feel what is  Mumbai  Rains, people  who have  experienced  it will sure vouch for  it,  I  am  one of  lucky guys.
